The Trust passes £1 million!

The Trust was set up in 1996 and has raised about £100,000 a year since then.

The 2006 London Marathon has seen the Trust pass the one million pound mark!

It is a great achievement for a charity that has been dependent upon unpaid volunteers and supporters throughout that time.

Our thanks go out to all those who have donated to the charity in the past 10 years, or organised or taken part in events to make this all possible.

A special thanks to the 2006 Marathon runners who helped to take us past the million.

2006 Marathon Runners were:

Marion Barnett, Ben Clarke, Anne Cooper, David Denton, Jean Findlater, Stephen May, Rachael Natrajan, Paul Rawson, Olga Slater, Angharad Smith, Alison Sweeting, Graham Wilson

Land’s End to John O’Groats walk – Update 28th July

The Trust is pleased to announce that Richard Sharpe has completed his walk from Lands End to John O’Groats! Richard has been a good friend of the family since he was at school with Lisa. Richard has always been a supported of the Trust since it was established. Fundraising through a number of events and completing The London Marathon.

In this quest he has completed the biggest single feat ever for the charity. Here richard says in his own words what it was like to complete this journey.

John O’Groats was to be honest an anti-climax of a place to finish, although the way we felt it didn’t matter. We had made it!!! 102 days of living life to the max and meeting some amazing people along the way. We then headed off for a day of rest on the Orkney Isles before making the long journey south and remembering how the inside of a bus looked!

Thank you for everybody’s support. For all your thoughts and prayers. It has been an honour to walk for the Trust, to walk with Lisa in my heart and soul, and to be able to share her life with everybody I met. I never felt low on energy. I never doubted that I would arrive one day in John O’Groats. Thank you Lisa!!

If you wish to make a donation please contact the Trust directly – it is such a wonderful charity achieving so much. In a world so full of uncertainty, the beacon of pure light The Lisa Thaxter Trust emits is so heart warming. If you have any plans for a British long distance walk and I could be of any help in any organising or any ideas for fundraising then do not hesitate to contact me through the Trust. Thank you all for sharing the experience with me – take care and god bless you all.

Land’s End to John O’Groats walk – Update 11th June

Richard Sharpe has now been on his sponsored walk since the beginning of April and has just finished the Pennine Way.

Richard, who is now walking on his own, hopes to finish in about 4 weeks time, all being well – some four and a half months!

This is a truly wonderful feat by someone who knew Lisa as a child and wanted to dedicate this walk to her.

If you would like to sponsor Richard on his walk, please complete the donation form on this website.

Land’s End to John O’Groats walk – Update 9th May

Richard and David started their walk on 4th April (see picture).

David unfortunately had to give up after 9 days due to illness. Richard however is progressing well and has met up with another walker, Sean from Australia, so they provide company for each other.

Richard is enjoying the walk and says he already has many adventures to recount. On 1st May, he and Sean were 10 miles north of Chepstow.

If you would like to sponsor Richard on his walk, please complete the donation form on this website (under Ways to help).
